Film Photography & Darkroom Techniques

Explore the art of taking photos with film cameras, developing film, and making your own photographic prints in our mobile darkroom. This 6-week class explores the basics of black-and-white darkroom photography and includes a local field trip to practice photography on-site. You will gain the skills to feel confident working independently in the darkroom with photochemistry, developing tanks, enlargers, and post-processing tools. Print critiques in the last few weeks of class will help you develop your critical eye and provide support and feedback about your work from peers. Our final day will be a potluck and print exchange! Each student will choose one of their favorite negatives and print enough copies for everyone in the class. We will all go home with an awesome package of original art containing one print from each of our class members! You will have 24-hour access to the mobile darkroom to create your art for the duration of the class!
